A cheap holiday in Spain (SWF, 1963)

cheap holidayIn Spain we are able to provide cheap holidays, where you, the tourists, have value for your money, good cheap food and fine hotels which provide good service at prices you can afford — altogether splendid value.

How do we do this? We keep the cost of living low, by preventing strikes that would put up wages. Our absence of strikes makes your holiday cheap.

Nationalisation and the new boss class (Tom Brown, 1946)

‘DIRECT ACTION’ PAMPHLETS No.3

Victory over Toryism

THE AIR RAID sirens had hardly sounded the last all-clear when Britain was thrust into the hurly-burly of a General Election. Before the world’s first atom bombs had fallen on Japanese cities, a Labour Government with an overwhelming majority ruled the House of Commons, and when victory over Japan followed victory over Germany, a Labour Prime Minister, head of a victorious Labour Government, rose to tell a House of Commons packed to the roof with his jubilant comrades.

The road was now open, the way to the New Jerusalem was clear.

The Solidarity Federation is an anarcho-syndicalist union, a means for people seeking to improve our lives to organise in our workplaces and communities. SolFed brings together people in all occupations regardless of industry, sector or trade – whether we’re employed or not.

SolFed seeks the abolition of capitalism and the institutions of power that are associated with it, such as the state. Our goal is to create a society centred on needs rather than profit, based upon the principle ‘from each according to ability, to each according to need’.

We believe in the principle of direct action – that means doing something for ourselves and not expecting leaders or representatives to act on our behalf.

SolFed members organise ourselves in a federation of local unions; in education we are in the Solidarity Federation Education Union (SFEU) and our members in hospitality are in the Solidarity Federation Hospitality Workers Union (SFHWU)
