Do you work in Health or Social Care?

By tee5, 24 November, 2014

Do you work in Health or Social Care?Full time − Public − Private − Charity Part time − Temping

Join Brightons Health & Social Care Network

Our health and social care provisions are being dismantled and those working are having their good will taken advantage of. We want to build confidence and a culture of resistance, collectivising issues and improving services from the workers’ and service users perspective.

Issues we have encountered are; low pay, unpaid overtime, no breaks, no annual pay rise, privatisation, bullying and harassment, staff shortages and zero contract hours.

We believe by acting together workers can directly tackle issues and assert our rights. We’re holding meetings promoting mutual support and solidarity, where issues can be shared and collectively acted on. We’re introducing training for organising in the workplace.

If you’re working in health and social care, and you’re interested in discussing a workplace issue or joining, get in touch!

The Solidarity Federation is an anarcho-syndicalist union, a means for people seeking to improve our lives to organise in our workplaces and communities. SolFed brings together people in all occupations regardless of industry, sector or trade – whether we’re employed or not.

SolFed seeks the abolition of capitalism and the institutions of power that are associated with it, such as the state. Our goal is to create a society centred on needs rather than profit, based upon the principle ‘from each according to ability, to each according to need’.

We believe in the principle of direct action – that means doing something for ourselves and not expecting leaders or representatives to act on our behalf.

SolFed members organise ourselves in a federation of local unions; in education we are in the Solidarity Federation Education Union (SFEU) and our members in hospitality are in the Solidarity Federation Hospitality Workers Union (SFHWU)
