We reject the Anti-Refugee Bill

📢📢 *EMERGENCY DEMO IN OPPOSITION TO THE NATIONALITY & BORDERS BILL*

💥CALLING LEEDS FOLK! 6PM FRIDAY 29th APRIL ON BRIGGATE💥

The Anti-Refugee Bill was pushed through parliament last night. The anti-refugee bill now becomes anti-refugee law. Despite huge opposition, Priti Patel is hellbent on her mission to further dismantle the UK's already cruel asylum system.

Now, for the first time, how you arrive in the country will be treated as more important than why. Those arriving outside the vanishingly rare 'official' routes, such as refugee resettlement schemes, will be treated as second-class refugees. Most will be denied even the chance to claim asylum in the UK and face potential deportation. Not to mention the ghoulish proposal to deport people to Rwanda for processing.

This bill completely ignores commitments to the Refugee Convention, but more importantly it ignores humanity. We must come together to fight the anti-refugee laws with everything we’ve got – in politics and in communities, in courts of law and the court of public opinion.

So join us on Friday at 6pm for an emergency demonstration. We will not allow this bill to pass without making it clear that this does not govern us. We do not accept this as a way to treat people. Our collective work to make our communities safe and welcoming for all may be harder now, but it is still possible. Join us in making it clear:

No human is illegal. Fuck your borders.

The Solidarity Federation is an anarcho-syndicalist union, a means for people seeking to improve our lives to organise in our workplaces and communities. SolFed brings together people in all occupations regardless of industry, sector or trade – whether we’re employed or not.

SolFed seeks the abolition of capitalism and the institutions of power that are associated with it, such as the state. Our goal is to create a society centred on needs rather than profit, based upon the principle ‘from each according to ability, to each according to need’.

We believe in the principle of direct action – that means doing something for ourselves and not expecting leaders or representatives to act on our behalf.

SolFed members organise ourselves in a federation of local unions; in education we are in the Solidarity Federation Education Union (SFEU) and our members in hospitality are in the Solidarity Federation Hospitality Workers Union (SFHWU)
