NLSF Meeting Minutes 29th June 2011

Minutes: T

 

Personal reports:

    • JB: New job Walthamstow Forest as TA, things “heating up”, antagonistic head teacher, shut for J30 expect GCSE level, kids going on the march!

    • J: New red hair, promoted to sous chef, but still working anti-social hours

    • T: School shut for students on J30, some non-teachers not to cross picket line

    • GH: No follow up meeting for support staff at work yet, but tension growing over breaks, not strike action planned for J30

    • S: not much to report

 

* Although we did go over the previous meeting's minutes, most of if flowed into agenda items for this meeting so I'm not going to differentiate between the two. Also, everything from the last meeting that was deferred, was again deferred this meeting.

 

Anarchist Bookfair 2011:

ACTION: T and JP to continue sorting out, J and GF to get involved possibly bringing in IWA speakers.

 

Finance:

    • statements now going directly to GH

    • 1,259 pounds currently in NL's account

    • A no longer paying subs (moving up north)

    • ACTION: T to reply to GH's email regarding finance

    • Still waiting to hear back re: nat'l subs, but GH's on it

    • Paid out:

      * 17 pounds to F for travel. ACTION: T to forward details to GH

      * 15 pounds to V and A for SUF summer camp. ACTION: T to FW details to GH

    • Discussion: Need to plan expenses in advance, also should we have a policy of a max of 50% reimbursement for travel expenses?

 

National Delegate Council:

    • NLSF Missed emergency NDC which the CNT-F split was discussed.

    • Next regular NDC: already too late for motions and the only agenda item is a logo from SL. ACTION: All to see most recent IB and to discuss SL's logo at next meeting.

Syndicalist Forum: JB has brought a proposal to have a day-long joint forum with the IWW. Despite a bit of resistance from T, it was generally felt to be a good idea. Action: JB to forward proposal to list and to follow up with IWW.

    • Note: T doubts this will be well-received by the LIWW as it specifically talks about anarchism.

 

London SF Office: S on that shit.

 

Gender discussion: A doodle is currently in place to pick a day to continue the discussion, but deferred because everyone has been so damn busy.

 

J30:

    • Hackney March: S has space to crash night before, meet up at Hackney College @ 8, GH to bring banner, S to bring flag

 

SWP's Marxism 2011:

    • No meeting, but ALARM to organise “anarchist rally”

    • JB to speak at rally and to run stall on the Saturday

    • Decided against have a post-Marxism anarchy meeting—not much interest and haven't heard much back from London AF

 

Anti-Fascist Prisoner Support needed: see list

 

Catalysts: T brought a bunch, which were then split between the Local.

 

New/Perspective members e-list: we need a list to easily send invites to meetings, socials, and event to interested folks. 2 options:

      1. Have NL Web Delegate create new list for this purpose

      2. Just use the existing announcements list to do this, but will SL mind...?

    • ACTION: I to sort out one of these options

 

Distros: Good one in WF and another good one in Hammersmith

 

AOB:

    • Pres of GMB sex workers union has contacted us for a training! A million-bazillion anarchy points!

    • Ad-Hoc NLSF fitness committee: Sunday morning at a Mabley Green park in Hackney/Hackney Wick to use outdoor fitness equipment. The W15, 276, and the 488 go there. See GH or JB (right?) about this.
