Alright, so after trying to decipher Joh's handwriting (not that I have any right to speak), I've added some extra action points on this.  There's also info about subs and finance, so please read that section closely...

M, can we add W to the list (email address cc-d)?  W, email J in SLSF to get an online account.

Also, both our treasurer and sec are looking to step down.

J – Royal Mail: reports of job losses but nothing 100% clear

G – Islington anti-cuts group too Swappie/Labour dominated

May Day Feedback – Good stuff including making 10 quid on badges (in G's possession)

 

Facebook: NLSF Facebook taken down

    • General security discussion: use only initials on minutes

    • Set up NLSF as a group instead of a profile (I?)

 

LEWG/EWN

    • J: Restart LEWG, include AFers and other sympathisers

    • T: Just setup up LEWN and let sceptics come to us based on our activity, don't need to be members to engage in out activities

    • Compromise: start getting active as education workers, see who comes to events and decide from there

    • Something I forgot to mention in the meeting: If you're an EW, please send monthly reports to the EWN email list. Contact me if you're not on the list or would like to set up subs to the EWN.

Marxism

May 9th – Day of Action against ATOS: this is the private company brought up to throw claimants off of benefits.

 

Office Angels

    • 9th - 15th May: National week of action

    • 11th May: Communications blockade

    • 23rd – 29th May: International week of action against ADECCO, who owns Office Angels

    • ACTION: T to contact US Wobs

    • ACTION: Joa to contact SUF

 

Conference report-back

    • Ji (SLSF) is new nat'l sec

    • NL DA motion failed on account of price, but otherwise well-received. Whoever picks up DA, there de facto mandate is to be informed by the discussion around both failed DA motions

    • EWN: successful meeting, lots of momentum to go on

    • Need for a students network and casual/agency workers grouping

    • Social care network within public sector network

    • Gender discussion

 

June 30th Strikes

 

Tower Hamlets

    • 850 council staff being privatised with a target privatisation date of January 2012

    • Info leaked to union who are talking about an indefinite strike on full pay!

    • ACTION: D, who is employed by TW, to write up more about what the dispute is about and what SF can do to support these workers.

Membership

    • U allowed to join, waving 3 meeting “rule”

NLSF Officers

    • Both T and Joa as treasurer and secretary, respectively, want to step down.

    • ACTION: pick new officers next meeting.

 

Chairing Workshop

    • T had been actioned to speak to An about this, but no progress yet

    • Perhaps merge with public speaking pamphlet/workshop

 

Starbucks/IWW: T spoke to IWW about our Sbux contact. They don't want a campaign, but have formally agreed to support any SF pickets or campaigns. If NLSF wants an Sbux campaign, we'll be starting from scratch, with lots of cold-flyering. ACTION: To be discussed further
