TVSF Meeting Wednesday 15th June Minutes
- Workplace, etc. Reports:
- Ian V is going back to London in July to try and get a job, will get in contact with SLSF. Still on zero-hours contract
- Auto – open tension decreased at work after crunch time’s finished
- Mons – TA’ing over but still working at the school, invigilating and working in Resources. Less scope for organising because more casual. But have got us helping each other take time off by e.g. letting people take breaks when they’re meant to be invigilating and rotating who’s actually invigilating. Finishes around the end of June.
- Indymedia:
- Oxford’s position seems sensible. We will post stuff there, etc. and ‘support’ their decision. Mons to tell Penguin
- June 30:
- Posters – 100 A3 ‘Don’t Work’ posters for £10 inc. postage. We want them, Ian V gave £10 to Auto to pay for the posters.
- June 30 Assembly:
- Oxfordshire Anti-cuts Alliance(Labour Left, Trotkyists, etc.) have called demo at Bonn Square from 1 until [update: actually, it begins at 1.30 with at the Town Hall, marches to Bonn Square and should all be wrapped up around 2.30], we should bear in mind
- Consensus could be problematic, but shouldn’t be in Oxford with no really disruptive people, we’ll use it if need be
- It might be quite small; clashes with No Border public meeting, Save NHS meeting and some other politician thing!
- We won’t need to provide food
- We will provide childcare if need be
- Provisional structure:
- 1) Go-round; where we work, study, etc. our plans for the 30th, etc.
- 2) Brainstorm ideas for what we could do
- 3) Make those plans more concrete
- 4) Distro: rota for leaflets, flyposting, etc.
- 5) Should we have a follow-up meeting?
- Mons to send this round, including structure of meeting, mailing lists and update facebook, plus text people on the day reminding them.
- Money:
- Some people still to set up standing orders. C not here so can’t know for sure. Ian V gave Auto another £5 to pay for one months dues.
- Employment Law Course:
- Worth stressing it’s a 2 day course, some people said they could do one day but not the other on the doodle poll. Ian V to send round list.
- Accommodation: Auto to look into YHA hostel.
- SlutWalk:
- M couldn’t make it so no report.
- Great that it’s happening, but concerns with reclaiming the word ‘slut’ and seeing it all as to do with individual choice, less focus on structural sexism and all the different things (e.g. objectification) which contribute to a society where rape happens.
