Since the beginning of the crisis more and more migrants are arriving in London and the UK. When people come here, they often find their first steps difficult. We want everyone to feel welcome and help them as much as possible. That’s why we have published a new pamphlet, “London – a migrant's guide”. It is a practical introduction to life in London and the UK.
The following areas are covered in the guide:
- Using public transport in London as well as trains and coaches in the UK;
- Where to access the internet and how to get a cheap mobile phone;
- Libraries and colleges where you may get free English language classes;
- Where to buy cheap food and other stuff and where to get it for free;
- How to open a bank account;
- Accessing health services, regularly and in emergency, including the access to contraception and abortion;
- Housing including practical issues such as rent and conditions you may expect, your rights as a tenant, and a few words on homelessness and squatting;
- Work including, pay, taxes, your rights at work, and issues you may encounter such as health and safety, bullying and harassment, zero hours contracts and false self employment, etc.
- A very basic breakdown of welfare benefits available in the UK;
- A few words on the police and the law, including when and where you can get free legal advice and support;
- Where to get support if you are a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault;
- Contacts for LGBT people.
In order to cover such a wide range of subjects in a short pamphlet we had to keep it very basic. At the same time we tried to put as much information and contacts as possible.
Some of the advice will be useful for everyone, but a lot assume that the reader has the right to live and work in the UK, most likely because they are an EU citizen. We support everyone's right to live wherever they choose to, no matter what passport they hold. Unfortunately things are much more complex for migrants from outside the EU, and we neither have the expertise required nor would be able to fit it in a small pamphlet.

Por la crisis mas y mas gente emigran a Londres y Reino Unido. Cuando llegan, encuentran duros los primeros pasos. Queremos que todos se sientan bienvenidos aqui y queremos ayudar en lo que podemos. Por esto hemos escrito esta pamfleto 'Londres- la guìa del inmigrante'. Es una guìa practica a la vida en Londres y Reino Unido.
Incluye:
- Transporte publico
- Donde tener acceso al internet y comprar un movil barato.
- Clases de inglés gratuito
- Donde comprar comida barata
- Como abrir una cuenta barata
- Como usar servicios de salud, y como tener acceso a anticonceptivos y aborto
- Vivienda, tus derechos de inquilino y el alquiler y condiciones tipicos, consejos de ocupar e ayudas por gente sin techo.
- Trabajo, salario, tasas, tus derechos laborales y problemas que pudean ocurir incluso seguridad, acoso, contratos de basura y forzado autonomo falso.
- Una guìa muy basica a las ayudas de bien estar
- Consejos tratando con la policia y la ley, y donde puedas encontra consejos legales gratuitas
- Donde encontrar ayuda si eres la victima de maltrato o violacìon
- Contactos por personas LGBT
Para cubrir tantas temas era necesario que es aveces muy basico. Hemos intentado incluir lo masimo informacion posible.
Hay informacion que sera util por todos, pero hay cosas que solo valen si tienes derecho legal a vivir y trabajar en Reino Unido, normalmente siendo ciudadano de UE. Estamos en favor del derecho de todo persona para vivir donde quieren, no importa pasaporte que tengan. Disafortunamente, por la gente de fuera del UE las cosas son mucho mas complicadas y no tenemos la necesaria conocimientos ni podemos acabar la informacion en un pamfleto pequeño

“Londyn - przewodnik imigranta” - publikacja Federacji Solidarności
Od początku kryzysu coraz więcej migrantów przybywa do Londynu i Wielkiej Brytanii. Osoby, którzy tu przyjeżdżają, często mają trudnosci na początku. My chcemy, aby wszyscy czuli się mile widziani i chcemy im pomóc jeśli tylko możemy. Dlatego wydaliśmy nową broszurę, "Londyn - przewodnik imigranta". Jest to praktyczne wprowadzenie do życia w Londynie i Wielkiej Brytanii.
Przewodnik obejmuje następujące sfery życia:
- Korzystanie z transportu publicznego w Londynie, a także pociągów i autokarów w Wielkiej Brytanii;
- Tani dostęp do internetu, gdzie i jak dostać tani telefon komórkowy;
- Biblioteki i szkoły które prowadzą darmowe lekcje języka angielskiego;
- Gdzie kupić tanie jedzenie i inne rzeczy i gdzie je dostać za darmo;
- Jak otworzyć konto w banku;
- Dostępu do służby zdrowia, na codzień i w nagłych wypadkach, w tym dostępu do środków antykoncepcyjnych i aborcji;
- Informacje o mieszkaniu, między innymi jakiego czynszu i jakich warunków można się spodziewać, prawa lokatora, oraz kilka słów na temat bezdomności i skłotowania;
- Praca, w tym wynagrodzenia, podatki, prawa pracownicze oraz problemy, jakie można napotkać, take jak bezpieczeństwo i higiena pracy, mobbing i molestowanie, umowy na zero godzin i fałszywe samozatrudnienie, itp.
- Bardza prosta lista świadczeń socjalnych dostępnych w Wielkiej Brytanii;
- Kilka słów na temat prawa i policji, w tym, kiedy i gdzie można uzyskać bezpłatne porady prawne;
- Gdzie można uzyskać pomoc dla ofiar przemocy domowej lub przemocy seksualnej;
- Kontakty dla osób LGBT.
Aby pomieścić szeroki zakres tematów w krótkiej broszurce, musieliśmy się ograniczyć do podstaw. Jednocześnie staraliśy się zawrzeć jak najwięcej informacji i kontaktów.
Niektóre porady będą przydatne dla każdego, ale wiele zakłada, że czytelnik ma prawo do zamieszkania i pracy w Wielkiej Brytanii, najprawdopodobniej jako obywatel Unii Europejskiej. Wierzymy, że każda osoba ma prawo do życia gdziekolwiek chce, bez względu na to jaki posiada paszport. Niestety sprawy są o wiele bardziej skomplikowane dla imigrantów spoza UE i my nie mamy wymaganej wiedzy specjalistycznej, ani nie byli byśmy w stanie jej zmieścić w małej broszurce.
