Edwin: Student at UCL; preparing for London Living Wage Week (see agenda item 1)
Joe Maguire: UNISON rep @ Queen Mary Uni; branch sec suspended; support staff going through a restructuring although Joe estimates “98 or 99%” will keep jobs
Frenchy: PHD student at London School of Economics (LSE); interested in GTA (Graduate Teaching Assistant) organising with Matt who is in the same department
Matt: GTA at LSE, preparing for post-grad forum on Friday to discuss contractual issues for GTAs
Refused: NHS reforms causing low morale; hospital being bought by UCL (!) and moved; new UNISON members in department
Grizzle Bear: UNISON rep now; school caretaker down for the cause (if a bit Christian); committee in formation; management have sussed her out as a militant
CantDo: Unemployed, not signed on yet, signed to care agencies to find work
Jerome: Fucked by union rep, but workmates self-organising!
Malone: Strike vote still valid, but negotiations ongoing over better redundancies and to make casualised staff permanent; possible strike fatigue and a feeling that struggle has moved behind closed doors.
