Capitalism is shit, oppression is shit - but what can we at SolFed do about it?

We need to change the world we live in - a world where exploitation at work and home, state violence, oppression and inequality run rampant.

We can’t do this as individuals - only mass collective action from across the breadth of the working class can achieve this. This doesn’t need to be controlled by a small handful of self-appointed leaders - but if we want to build a movement that challenges capital, the state and all forms of oppression, we need to get organised.

The Red represents the workers’ movement. We belong to the global class of people who work to produce all the goods and services in the world but receive only a fraction of the rewards. Through collective action, mutual-aid and solidarity we seek to empower the oppressed, to improve our lives and ultimately to end the exploitative relationships that dominate our society so that we can create a world where everybody everywhere can enjoy the benefits.

Anarcho-syndicalism is not an abstract theory that was created out of thin air. It is based on a simple observation: that society is built by the work that most of the population does, but only a few people own the world’s resources, reap the profits and hold power.

ANARCHISM

Anarchy is a scary word. It is associated with chaos, violence, and disorder. However, the word anarchy simply means without (an) rulers (archy).

TWO IDEAS OF SOCIALISM

Today socialism is mostly associated with social democratic political parties like Labour or totalitarian states like North Korea.

A BLEAK FUTURE

The trade union movement has been extremely important in furthering the desires of workers and improving our living conditions. This movement was vital in raising many workers out of the gruelling fourteen hour days, unsafe working conditions, poverty pay, and general degradation of the industrial revolution.

THE RIGHT TO PROTEST

The right to protest is a key right within our political system, and the suppression of protest is a sign that a government has become oppressive and authoritarian.

DEMOCRACY

The core assumption of our political system is that the government represents the will of the people and that this will is expressed through elections. Because of this, political parties are the most important organisations in mainstream politics and many people do not get involved in politics beyond voting.

OWNERS AND WORKERS

Today the economy is divided into two broad classes of people. One is a small elite who control the vast majority of the wealth, organisation, and productive capacity of society; private business owners.

MEANS OF SURVIVAL

The majority of people are reliant on a web of different organisations and infrastructure in order to live full and happy lives. We need access to hospitals, transport, waste disposal, water, electricity, and many other municipal services in order to live.
